Daffodil Prep's Admission Arrangements
At Daffodil Preparatory School, we are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. Our admissions process ensures that every child who joins our school is supported in their educational journey and that the needs of our school community are met.
Admission Policy
We admit students from Year 1 onwards, and our aim is to ensure that each child who joins us thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Places are offered based on availability, and priority may be given to children with siblings already enrolled at the school, as well as those living locally.
Admission Criteria
1. Age Requirements:
Children must be at least 5 years old by the start of the academic year to be considered for a place in Year 1.
We also admit students to other year groups, subject to availability, as long as they meet the school's entry criteria.
2. Application Process:
Parents or guardians wishing to apply for a place at Daffodil Preparatory School should complete the online application form or contact the school office for a paper version.
3. Assessment and Interview:
An assessment may be required to determine the child’s academic ability and suitability for the school’s curriculum.
For entry into Year 1 and beyond, a meeting or assessment may be scheduled with the child to better understand their needs and abilities.
In some cases, an informal interview with the child and parent/guardian may be conducted.
4. Offer of a Place:
Offers of places will be made following the assessment, and parents/guardians will be notified in writing.
Once a place is offered, parents/guardians are required to confirm their acceptance within the specified time frame.
5. Waiting List:
If the school is oversubscribed, a waiting list will be maintained. The waiting list will be managed according to the admission criteria and the availability of places.
6. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND):
Daffodil Preparatory School is an inclusive school, and we will consider all applications, including those for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Parents are encouraged to discuss any additional needs or support requirements at the time of application.
7. Admissions Outside of the Normal Admissions Round:
Applications may also be considered for students seeking entry outside of the usual admissions cycle, for example, if a family moves to the area mid-year or under exceptional circumstances.
Appeals
If an application is unsuccessful, parents or guardians have the right to appeal the decision. Appeals should be made in writing to the Headteacher, outlining the reasons for the appeal. Details on how to appeal will be provided with the decision letter.
